We’re delighted our latest app, Grimm’s Rapunzel ~ 3D interactive Pop-up Book is available now on the App Store for iPad, iPhone/Retina and iPod touch. This is the second in a series of 3D interactive children’s books we’re doing for the iOS platform. The first, Grimm’s Rumpelstiltskin ~ 3D interactive Pop-up Book was chosen by Apple as iPad App Of The Week in twenty territories. It was also featured in iTunes Rewind 2010 Interactive Stories.
We’ve exposed more of our PopIris™ system in Grimm’s Rapunzel. Whereas Grimm’s Rumpelstiltskin was deliberately simple, we’ve made Grimm’s Rapunzel more sophisticated. The type of interactivity we’ve added to the app attempts to weave the reader into the story directly. For example, in the first pop-up scene presented in Grimm’s Rapunzel, the reader is asked to grow some flowers by planting some seed in the garden. The reader can then water the seed and watch the flowers grow. This triggers a reaction from one of the characters which leads us nicely into the next section of the book, and so on.
We’ve already started on some updates to the app. We hope to have these rolled out to all of our 3D interactive books over the coming weeks. As always, your feedback is more than welcome.
